Our collection
Four generations of artisans
The Erreguible family, a house next door to that of the Cangrands, made their first espadrilles in Mauléon in the cellar of their home, at the very beginning of the 20th century. The father, the mother, the children, all participate. It was one of the grandchildren, Henri, who built a brand new workshop in the 70s.
Like in 1900
Nothing has changed, not for fear of change, but solely out of concern not to lose or distort the original product, the 425, the entirely hand-sewn espadrille. This product is sufficient in itself, it is known and recognized, it is the fruit of the work of the men and women of this country. The pattern is the same as that used by the first generations, the tight canvas, the thick sole, the natural rubber, all of this gives it a unique fit.

The Workshop - Museum
It is in the bastion of the espadrille, in Mauléon Licharre, that Don Quichosse makes his espadrilles in the purest tradition, from the models of our ancestors (those which are still worn in the Basque Country) to those updated.
The workshop also serves as a factory store, a workshop museum where you will feel the weight of the years. It’s a lively place where we will share our passion with you, our love of a job well done, among machines that are more than a century old.
Don Quichosse is also a store-museum in Ossés, in the artisans' village near St Jean Pied de Port. This small, free museum will tell you the history of the espadrille through time.
